We are looking for a Finance and Admin Executive to support the finance, accounting, sustainability costing, and administrative functions of JB Cocoa’s operations in Nigeria. The role will handle routine accounting and financial matters, support sustainability-related cost tracking and analysis, and assist with local administrative coordination to ensure smooth business operations.

The ideal candidate should be hands-on, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a developing business environment. The role requires good accounting knowledge, strong ownership, and the ability to coordinate with internal stakeholders across Nigeria and the group.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Sustainability Costing and Analysis

  • Support the tracking, compilation, and analysis of sustainability-related costs in Nigeria.
  • Assist in preparing cost reports relating to sustainability programmes, farmer engagement, traceability, certification, training, field activities, logistics, and related operational expenses.
  • Work with the sustainability team to collect and verify supporting documents for sustainability spending.
  • Assist in monitoring budget versus actual sustainability costs and highlight variances for management review.
  • Support the preparation of cost summaries for internal reporting, customer-related sustainability reporting, and Group review.
  • Maintain proper records and documentation for sustainability-related transactions and claims.
  • Coordinate with Finance, Sustainability, and Operations teams to improve cost visibility and reporting accuracy.

Routine Accounting and Financial Matters

  • Handle day-to-day accounting transactions, including payment processing, journal entries, expense recording, and account reconciliations.
  • Support full set accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, bank reconciliation, accruals, and month-end closing.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with company policies and local requirements.
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial reports, management reports, and supporting schedules.
  • Monitor invoices, receipts, payments, staff claims, petty cash, and other financial transactions.
  • Liaise with banks, vendors, service providers, auditors, tax consultants, and relevant local authorities where required.
  • Support statutory, tax, audit, and compliance submissions in coordination with Group Finance and external advisors.
  • Ensure proper filing and safekeeping of finance documents, contracts, invoices, receipts, and accounting records.

Administrative Matters in Nigeria

  • Support general administrative coordination for the Nigeria office and local operations.
  • Assist with office administration, vendor coordination, procurement support, document control, and local service arrangements.
  • Coordinate administrative matters relating to office supplies, local permits, registrations, renewals, courier, travel, accommodation, and meeting arrangements.
  • Support local onboarding administration for new employees where required.
  • Assist in maintaining company records and ensuring timely renewal of relevant local documents, licenses, agreements, and service contracts.
  • Work closely with Group HR, Finance, Sustainability, and other departments to support smooth local business operations.
  • Provide administrative support for visits by Group management, auditors, customers, consultants, or external stakeholders.

Reporting and Coordination

  • Prepare timely and accurate reports for local management and Group Finance.
  • Provide regular updates on finance, costing, and administrative matters.
  • Highlight issues, risks, delays, or irregularities to management in a timely manner.
  • Support the implementation of Group policies, procedures, internal controls, and reporting requirements.
  • Assist in improving local finance and administrative processes as the Nigeria entity develops.

Job Requirements:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in accounting, finance, or administrative support.
  • Experience in a new entity, start-up operation, branch office, or newly established company would be an added advantage.
  • Experience in SAP accounting systems would be an added advantage.
  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Able to communicate, speak, and read English.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate with local and Group stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
