Responsibilities

The incumbent will be responsible for delivering an effective and comprehensive administrative service to the Head of the Department and the staff members of the Department of Early Childhood Education.

Responsibilities Will Include

  • Personal assistance to the Head of the Department;
  • General administration for the academic personnel/ department operations;
  • Teaching and learning administration;
  • Research and marketing administration; and
  • Financial, human resources and event administration

Minimum Requirements

  • A relevant 3-year National diploma, and 1 year of experience in:
    • Office administration;
    • Financial administration;
    • Secretarial experience.

OR

  • A Grade 12, and 3 years of experience in:
    • Office administration;
    • Financial administration;
    • Secretarial experience.

Required Competencies (skills, Knowledge And Behavioural Attributes)

  • Post graduate and undergraduate admin work;
  • UP systems in general;
  • Office management and etiquette;
  • Minute and note-taking and meeting protocols;
  • Workings of Faculty and Department;
  • Computer literate – Word, Excel, Google;
  • Ability to accomplish tasks and processes accurately;
  • Ability to pay attention to detail;
  • Interpersonal skills;
  • Presentation skills;
  • Team player.

  • A relevant Bachelor’s Degree
  • Financial management;
  • Project management;
  • Events management;
  • Administrative experience in a tertiary education institution;
  • Effective communication.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
