Our company in the building glass industry is currently seeking an External Sales Representative. This role is responsible for driving sales growth by visiting clients within assigned territories, identifying and developing new business opportunities, and maintaining strong relationships with existing customers. The successful candidate will be expected to engage proactively with clients, negotiate effectively, and consistently meet or exceed sales targets, while representing the company in a professional manner in the market.
Responsibilities
- Actively seek out new customers and business opportunities through field visits, referrals, and market research.
- Visit existing and prospective customers to understand their requirements and recommend suitable products or solutions.
- Negotiate pricing, costs, delivery schedules, and product specifications in line with company policies.
- Close sales agreements and ensure all orders are processed accurately and efficiently.
- Meet or exceed assigned sales targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers through regular site visits and follow-ups.
- Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
- Ensure all transaction details (including pricing, stock availability, and delivery timelines) are clearly communicated to customers.
Sales Administration & Reporting
- Accurately record sales activities, orders, and customer interactions, and submit timely reports to management.
- Prepare accurate quotations with prompt and precise cost calculations.
- Gather market intelligence, monitor competitor activity, and collect customer feedback, reporting key insights to management.
Compliance & Asset Management
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), noting that KPIs may be updated as required.
- Take responsibility for and maintain all assigned company assets, including vehicles, mobile devices, and sales equipment.
Teamwork & Communication
- Attend sales meetings, training sessions, and briefings as required.
- Collaborate with internal teams and support colleagues to enhance overall sales performance.
- Carry out any additional tasks assigned by management to support business operations and sales objectives
Qualifications
- 2–3 years of proven experience in external or field sales.
- Matric, with a Diploma or Degree in Marketing, Sales, or a related field.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent time management and territory planning skills.
- Customer-focused with a professional and ethical approach.
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
