What You’ll Do
Facility Maintenance and Cleaning
· Coordinate and monitor general facility maintenance, repairs, and cleaning schedules
· Identify maintenance issues early and follow up with relevant departments or contractors until completion
· Ensure quarantine facilities meet biosecurity, hygiene, and State Veterinary standards at all times
· Maintain records of reported issues, actions taken, and completion dates
· Support inspections and audits related to facility compliance
Equine Care and Management
· Assist with daily horse care, monitoring, and general stable duties during quarantine periods
· Support arrival and departure processes, including assessments, trot-ups, dipping, and inspections
· Assist with checking horses for sheared heels, fungal infections, or other conditions requiring treatment
· Support official blood draw preparation and verification processes as required
· Ensure accurate identification of horses, including microchip verification and documentation support
Administrative Duties
· Manages and track quarantine documentation, including passports, import permits, flight details, and shipment records
· Verify accuracy and completeness of paperwork prior to blood draws and shipment deadlines
· Maintain accurate records using Excel, Word, and Access
· Track invoices, approvals, proof of payment (POP), and follow up with finance and suppliers as needed
· Act as a point of contact for suppliers regarding payment status and documentation queries
· Assist with scheduling, reporting, and operational correspondence
Staff Monitoring and Support
· Support staff oversight and daily task allocation
· Assist with onboarding, inductions, and training documentation as required by the State Vet
· Support probation reviews, compliance checks, and staff record keeping
· Assist with monitoring attendance, conduct, and adherence to quarantine protocols
· Any other duties that may be required.
What You’ll Need
· Two (2) to three (3) years’ experience working with horses and equine handling, property or farm maintenance and administrative and record-keeping duties
· Relevant tertiary qualification in agriculture, animal science, equine studies, or administration (advantageous)
· Experience working in a regulated, biosecure, or compliance-driven environment will be an advantage
· A clear criminal record.
