SUMMARY:
We’re recruiting on behalf of a client seeking an experienced Electrical Technician (Automation) to take ownership of automation, control systems, PLC programming, panel wiring, and instrumentation support within a fastâpaced manufacturing environment. This is a handsâon role for a technically strong and innovative individual who can troubleshoot, optimise, and enhance complex automation systems.

Our client is looking for a skilled Electrical Technician with a strong background in lowâcurrent electrical engineering and automation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, programming, commissioning, and optimising PLCâbased control systems, HMI interfaces, SCADA platforms, field devices, and electrical panels used in automated production equipment.
The role requires strong problemâsolving skills, the ability to manage multiple technical tasks, and the capability to provide onâsite support during machine installations, upgrades, and breakdowns.
Education:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Low Current) or equivalent
Job Experience & Skills Required:
- 2–3 years’ experience in electrical/automation engineering within a manufacturing environment
Technical Skills:
- Strong problemâsolving & faultâfinding abilities
- PLC programming & troubleshooting (Delta PLCs) using:
- WPLSoft
- ISPSoft
- PLC ladder logic development and modification
- Configuration of digital I/O, analogue cards (4–20mA, 0–10V), temperature modules, and signal scaling
- MasterâSlave communication setup using:
- Ethernet (Modbus TCP/IP)
- RS485 (Modbus RTU / ASCII)
- Integration with HMIs, VFDs, temperature controllers & field devices
- Delta HMI programming using DOPSoft:
- Realâtime visualisation
- Alarm screens
- Data entry & recipe screens
- Trend graphs
- SCADA development (Delta DiaView)
- LabView application development
- SQL server database development, ODBC integration
- PowerBI dashboard/report creation
- Calibration of loadcells, temperature controllers, etc.
- VFD setup (Delta & Yaskawa)
- Electrical panel design, wiring & interpretation of electrical drawings
- Energy metering systems, CT installation, LPU tariff structures, TOU billing
- SQLâbased energy monitoring & reporting
- Working knowledge of LV metering installations
- Basic mechanical fitting & tool usage
