Job purpose

The Direct Sales Account Executive is responsible for generating and maximising revenue from Direct business clients across national, provincial and local businesses for commercial benefit of all MSG Group Sales clients (radio stations and their digital platforms)

Key responsibilities

The direct sales account executive is expected to understand the profiles, audience and product offering of MSG Group radio stations

Be abreast with the strategic and commercial priorities of MSG Group stations

Understand each individual client strategic, marketing and communications priorities to continuously align to periodic market changes and identify opportunities to maximise revenue.

Represent the entire range of company products and services, to business owners/managers.

A comprehensive understanding of SMMEs and private businesses not represented by media agencies.

Track market insights and the drivers that influence client’s marketing and spending decisions

Manage a portfolio of existing and prospective Direct accounts with a long-term revenue growth view by solidifying long term commitments across all MSG platforms

Develop and execute customized sales programmes to acquire new accounts.

Have the ability to negotiate at various client levels across diverse cultures and demographics

Source, identify and secure new business opportunities from private entities, initiatives and trade activities, by putting together concise, impactful, innovative and solution driven proposals for the clients, to meet their objectives and the company’s Direct media spend share objectives

Ability to focus on the needs of non-traditional media clients by engaging and expanding on their interests and expectations and identifying common ground opportunities.

Ability to work under pressure assimilate large quantity of information quickly, while maintaining attention to details of both the client’s and the company’s objectives.

Work closely with the operations team to ensure optimal after sale operational and that clients always receive a high quality and consistent service.

Effectively manage station’s inventory, client accounts and budget with all internal and external stakeholders.

Ensure collections and timeous payments are made by clients

Complete all required administrative reporting activities such as forecasts, expense reports and weekly status report on time.

Establish positive working relationships with the local and regional agencies and key leaders.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in marketing or equivalent

Language proficiency

Good command of English, both written and spoken

Fluent conduct of three or more South African official languages would be an advantage.

Experience

Ability to implement sales strategies and tactics to grow sales in a highly competitive market.

Experience in working with small and large enterprises across various categories i.e. minerals, telecommunications, financial services with geographically and demographically localised priorities.

Demonstrate a track record of no less than 3 million annual sales achieved over a period of 2 years.

Valid driver’s licence and motor vehicle are a must.

REQUIREMENTS

Skills and attributes

Ability to persuade owner managed business and non-traditional media clients with limited marketing budgets, to invest in media spend by negotiating mutually satisfactory agreements.

Excellent presentation skills with efficient use of presentation tools including PowerPoint as well as solid understanding and use of Microsoft office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook etc.).

Excellent written and verbal communication skill.

Ability to analyse and synthesize diverse information into manageable pieces.

Detailed oriented, relationship building skills and a passion for customer service with the keen ability to proactively anticipate and provide solutions to client needs.

Be highly organised, disciplined with great work ethics to minimize business operational and reputational risk.

Ability to learn and apply new concepts and tools quickly. Must be able to integrate new and emerging technology.

Required knowledge

A comprehensive understanding of the entire sales process, from prospecting, acquisitions and account maintenance for client retention and revenue growth purposes.

A clear understanding of the radio production value chain, included but not limited to programming, sales and marketing etc.

Solid understanding and working experience with sales systems.

A comprehensive understanding of the respective regional business’ structures and classifications, in line with their respective service priorities.

Remain up to date on trends and research-based knowledge to effectively deliver relevant, reliable reports.

Demonstrate keen interest in digital media sales as effective entry point for direct sales.

Demonstrate solid business relationships with private business owners/managers.

Demonstrate an understanding of private business manager’s/owners ‘priorities.
