Vacancy: Diesel Mechanic / Generator Technician
Location: Western Cape, South Africa
CHE Electrical Engineering (Pty) Ltd, an established Electrical and Mechanical Engineering company operating throughout the Western Cape, is seeking a qualified and experienced Diesel Mechanic / Generator Technician to join our growing team.
Minimum Requirements:
- Trade-tested Diesel Mechanic qualification (Red Seal advantageous)
- Minimum 2–5 years’ experience working on diesel generators and diesel engines
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities on industrial generators and control systems
- Experience with Deep Sea and ATS controllers will be advantageous
- Electrical background and understanding of generator electrical systems
- Valid driver’s license (Code 10 advantageous)
- Physically fit and medically capable of performing site-related duties
- Good communication and reporting skills
- Computer literacy and ability to operate diagnostic equipment
- Must have a clear criminal record
- Must reside within the Western Cape
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and servicing on diesel generators
- Conduct fault finding, diagnostics, repairs, and breakdown response
- Install and commission generators and related electrical systems
- Perform load testing and inspections
- Complete job cards and technical reports accurately
- Attend emergency breakdowns and standby call-outs when required
- Work effectively within a team environment while maintaining high safety standards
Working Conditions:
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime and standby duties may be required
- Market-related salary based on qualifications and experience
- Immediate availability will be advantageous
