Job Summary:
To operate a diamond drilling rig safely and efficiently, ensuring boreholes are drilled according to the drilling program while achieving maximum core recovery and maintaining equipment in good working condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the diamond drill rig.
- Drill boreholes according to planned coordinates, depth, dip, and azimuth.
- Monitor drilling performance and core recovery.
- Complete daily drilling reports.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures.
- Supervise the Drill Assistant during drilling activities
Education
- Grade 10 -12 (Matric) or equivalent.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
Experience
- 2–5 years of diamond drilling experience
- Knowledge of wireline core drilling techniques
- Ability to read drilling plans and borehole specifications
