SUMMARY:
To lead and manage the full property and development lifecycle of Target Meats’ retail expansion programme. This includes identifying and securing new store locations, overseeing design and construction, managing lease negotiations and renewals, ensuring brandâstandard execution of all builds, and providing strategic oversight for the companyâowned Silverton FoodHub center. The role is responsible for delivering new stores on time, within budget, and to the required standards, while ensuring Target Meats’ retail footprint expands sustainably and profitably.
POSITION INFO:
Qualifications
Grade 12
Diploma/Degree in Architectural, Building Science or Project Management
Experience
Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience working in a retail environment.
Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong understanding of retail leasing, municipal approvals, and store build processes.
Skills Required
Good communication skills
Financial understanding of feasibility/viability studies and project costings
MS Projects
Dependable, self-starter, proactive, high energy levels and analytical skills
Ability to motivate a team of people and create relationships
Ability to read and understand shopping center plans
Council approval process knowledge and experience
Willingness to travel and work long hours when required (store visits/launches)
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (KPI’S)
JOB ACTIVITIES
New Business
Identify, negotiate and secure new and existing commercial/retail development opportunities for ESKORT Corporate and Franchisee store as per our expansion program.
Build relationships with Property Developers/Agents and municipal regulatury bodies to ensure and maintain a constant development pipeline.
Control all lease negotiations with Developers and Landlords
Co-ordinate developer providing a retail unit as per our specification for “White Box” as per our ESKORT specification
Development
Control and manage the preferred suppliers list
Control and manage development budget and project specific budget
Control and manage the image of all ESKORT stores
Report to management on progress of all new stores and revamps
Project Management
Main contractor and sub-contractor appointments
Proficiency on MS Office Suite.
Initiate fit-out and manage fit-out process
Control project costs and timelines and coordinate H&S onsite
Obtain all required council and legal approvals/certifications to allow for legal trading
Property Management & Lease Administration
Arrange general maintenance of existing stores.
Evaluate where cost savings can be made to drive down new store costs
Negotiate new leases, renewal terms, rental escalations, and lease conditions
Manage all leaseârelated documentation in coordination with legal advisors
Maintain a lease expiry calendar and proactively secure renewals
Oversee propertyârelated compliance, including:
OSH requirements
Zoning and permitted-use confirmation
Building compliance certificates for all stores
Silverton FoodHub Management (Company-Owned Centre)
Managing tenant relationships and lease agreements
Ensuring upkeep, maintenance, and compliance of the center
Overseeing facilities and infrastructure repairs or upgrades
Ensuring optimal tenant mix and commercial performance
Coordinating with security, cleaning, and maintenance service providers
Maintenance of Existing Stores
Coordinate general maintenance and repairs for the Target Meats store network
Track and manage maintenance budgets
Implement preventative maintenance strategies
