We are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Design & Development Engineer to lead product design, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives within our organisation.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements:
- Demonstrated expertise in product design, research and development within a manufacturing or mining-related environment.
- Lead the design, development, prototyping, testing, and optimisation of new products, as well as the enhancement of existing product lines.
- Advanced proficiency in CAD design, technical drawings, and engineering calculations using SolidWorks.
- Take ownership of costing, quoting, and the preparation and verification of bills of materials (BOMs).
- Analyse and interpret customer requirements, providing technically sound and commercially viable engineering solutions.
- Extensive experience with vibrating screens, panel systems, or similar screening products is strongly preferred.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration between sales, production, and toolroom to ensure efficient project execution and delivery.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including fabrication, casting, machining, and tooling, with the ability to optimize designs for manufacturability.
- Oversee and enforce quality control standards, including documentation and compliance with internal and customer requirements.
- Proficient in ERP systems, including item creation, product structures, and material planning.
- Conduct site visits, gather technical data, and provide on-site engineering support where required.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring adherence to deadlines, budgets, and performance targets.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and draftsmen, ensuring skills development and knowledge transfer within the team.
Suitable Candidate Profile:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline .
- Qualified and experienced draftsman with strong technical drawing capability.
- Minimum 5–10 years’ relevant experience in a manufacturing or mining environment.
- Proven leadership capability with experience managing projects and/or teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communicator with the ability to engage at both technical and commercial levels.
- High level of attention to detail, accountability, and the ability to perform under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
