Job Description
Role Overview
- This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing programme strategy, delivery, and impact across Southern Africa.
- You will lead programme teams, strengthen systems, and ensure strong integration between programme delivery, operations, and financial management while also representing the organisation externally to partners and funders.
- This role includes a potential pathway toward Executive Director progression within 3–5 years.

Roles and Responsibilities
Programme Strategy & Leadership
- Lead the design and evolution of programmes across regions
- Align delivery with organisational priorities and funding requirements
- Identify opportunities for growth and regional expansion
Programme Delivery & Quality
- Oversee implementation to ensure quality, timelines, and impact targets are met
- Identify risks and resolve delivery challenges
- Ensure programmes are well-planned, resourced, and executed
Impact & Monitoring (M&E)
- Oversee data collection, reporting, and learning systems
- Ensure strong evidence of impact across programmes
- Translate results into clear narratives for stakeholders
Team Leadership
- Manage and support programme staff across multiple roles and regions
- Build a culture of accountability, clarity, and collaboration
Operations & Finance Integration
- Line manage the Youth Network & Operations & Finance Coordinators
- Ensure strong coordination between programme delivery, logistics, and financial systems
- Oversee budgets, cost tracking, and operational workflows
External Representation
- Represent Sunshine Cinema in partner, funder, and public forums
- Contribute to proposals, partnerships, and organisational positioning
Qualifications And Requirements
Ideal Candidate
- 7–10+ years’ experience in programme leadership within the NGO / social impact sector
- Proven experience managing teams and complex, multi-site programmes
- Strong strategic thinking and organisational skills
- Confident communicator, comfortable in external and funder-facing spaces
- Financial literacy and strong systems thinking
- Passion for youth development, African storytelling, and social change
Additional Requirements
- Based in or able to work from Cape Town
- Willingness to travel regionally
- Fluency in English (additional regional languages advantageous)
- Right to work in South Africa
