Job Summary
The Deli Associate prepares and serves deli items in a self-sufficient and competent manner, ensuring compliance with all health code regulations and delivering a positive customer experience. The Deli Associate has primary responsibility for the kitchen and deli area of the store, with support from other store personnel.

Job Requirements
- Perform daily market opening duties, including turning on lights, resetting alarms, and preparing cash register drawers.
- Prepare coffee and other daily prep items.
- Prepare deli foods such as triangle sandwiches, salads, and other grab-and-go case items.
- Prepare ingredients and assemble sub sandwiches.
- Monitor and maintain the coffee and soft drink bar, including stocking cups, lids, sugar, creamers, and beans.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the deli kitchen preparation area.
- Monitor deli case for stock levels and expiration dates; restock as necessary.
- Prepare and maintain an updated list of needed items from the walk-in cooler or freezer; minimize unnecessary trips.
- Monitor and restock drinks in the walk-in cooler as needed.
- Inventory product for the following day’s deli and meal preparation; pull necessary items from freezer/cooler and store properly.
- Prepare luncheon items according to the provided menu, from scratch or using prepackaged items requiring reheating.
- Monitor hot case for product levels and temperature compliance; restock as needed and maintain cleanliness.
- Wash, sanitize, and dry dishes as needed.
- Clean and sanitize the deep fryer weekly.
- Restock cooler items.
- Assist customers with purchases, including operating the credit card machine; monitor gas pumps for potential drive-aways.
- Empty trash cans and remove excess cardboard from kitchen, display, and restroom areas.
- Restock restroom paper/soap dispensers and maintain restroom cleanliness, including counters and floors.
- Complete PASS Training Operator C certification.
- Cross-train in bakery, retail, and farm market roles.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager or Supervisor to ensure smooth operations of the Market.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with the public.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
- Proficiency in point-of-sale systems and cash handling, including making correct change.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while maintaining quality and cleanliness standards.
Additional Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Minimum two years of deli and meal preparation experience
- Capability to lift or move 50+ lbs. unassisted.
- Ability to stand and work on feet for extended periods of time.
