The Pain Collective is looking for a Debtor’s clerk to join our team.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Debtors Clerk to manage the debtor’s function within a medical billing environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for issuing patient invoices and statements, following up on outstanding accounts, processing and allocating payments accurately, and ensuring effective debtor collections.
The role includes resolving patient billing queries, reconciling debtor accounts, investigating discrepancies, and maintaining accurate financial records.
The Medical Debtors Clerk will also prepare debtor ageing and collection reports, monitor account status, and work closely with the finance team to support efficient cash flow management and accurate accounts receivable processes.
Key Performance Areas
- Generating accurate invoices and statements
- Processing debit and credit notes
- Handling high volumes of invoicing and transactions efficiently
- Banking and processing receipts
- Following up and collecting overdue payments
- Reconciling patient accounts and resolving discrepancies
- Assisting with reconciliations
- Identifying and resolving billing discrepancies with strong attention to detail
- Supporting the Debtors department with ad hoc duties as required
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required
- Grade 12 with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Medical Billing Clerk / Debtors role
- Extensive medical billing experience
- Hands‑on invoicing and accounts receivable experience
- Strong Excel skills (essential)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English & Afrikaans.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to manage high volumes of transactions accurately
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Team Player
- Ability to adapt quickly to new systems and environments
