Role Description The Dealership Branch Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Western Cape, South Africa. This role is responsible for managing the dealership’s financial records, including processing journals, reconciling general ledger accounts, and ensuring accurate posting of transactions. The Branch Accountant prepares monthly management accounts, analyzes variances against budget, and provides financial reports to dealership and regional management. Daily tasks include overseeing cashbook and bank reconciliations, reviewing debtors and creditors, monitoring parts and vehicle stock, and ensuring compliance with company policies and statutory requirements. The role also supports internal and external audits, assists with budgeting and forecasts, and collaborates with dealership teams to improve financial controls and operational efficiency.
Qualifications

  • Solid accounting knowledge, including general ledger, trial balance, reconciliations, and financial reporting skills.
  • Proficiency in dealership or automotive retail accounting systems (e.g., Kerridge, Automate, or similar) and strong Excel skills.
  • Experience in cashbook management, bank reconciliations, creditors, debtors, and stock control processes.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced dealership environment, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across finance, sales, service, and parts teams.
  • Relevant accounting qualification or diploma (e.g., BCom Accounting, Accounting Diploma, or equivalent) and prior experience in an automotive dealership or retail environment preferred.
  • High level of integrity, commitment to compliance and internal controls, and willingness to continuously improve processes.
