Job Responsibilities

  • Interpret customs regulations and declaration standards, with solid knowledge of Morocco’s fiscal policies, tax regulations, and free trade agreements. Identify customs risks, implement preventive measures, and proactively plan import and export operational models.
  • Be responsible for all import and export customs affairs of the Morocco entity, including communication and coordination with customs authorities, inspection agencies, port terminals, airlines, shipping lines, and cargo stations.
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, and warehouses to optimize local clearance processes, improve clearance efficiency, and control clearance costs. Arrange cargo pickup and transportation from port to warehouse, monitor shipment status, and resolve operational exceptions.
  • Work closely with internal product and technical teams, with a basic understanding of the market access requirements for consumer electronics in Morocco, by cooperating to achieve the target of customs clearance and cost.
  • Develop management strategies for freight forwarders and customs brokers, identify high-quality customs clearance resources, support supplier selection and tendering processes, and manage supplier performance.
  • Experience in handling customs inspections and valuation challenges, with the capability to manage minimum value reviews conducted by Moroccan Customs for specific electronic products (such as mobile phones and accessories).
  • Establish and optimize standardized customs operation procedures, identify risk points across import/export processes, and continuously improve operational efficiency and service quality.
  • Ability to manage emergency situations with strong government relations skills and access to local networks/resources.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Trade, or related fields.
  • Fluent in English and French for business communication is mandatory.
  • Minimum 5 years of customs affairs experience, with solid knowledge of Morocco customs regulations, policies, and operational procedures. Familiar with government authorities such as customs and inspection agencies.
  • Strong hands-on experience in import/export customs clearance under various trade terms, with the ability to independently handle clearance exceptions and operational issues.
  • Good knowledge of international transportation, logistics management, and international trade practices. Experience in bonded operations or duty exemption policies is a plus.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, with a service-oriented mindset and good teamwork abilities. Able to work effectively under pressure.
  • Candidates with local industry resources or strong relationships with customs and relevant authorities will be preferred.
