Company Background:

Culture Fresh Foods, Incis a Non-Dairy processing facility headquartered in Naugatuck, CT. The facility produces a wide range of plant based spoonable and spreadable cultured and ESL (extended shelf life) products for private label, copack and under its own brand.

This position performs custodial cleaning, maintenance and upkeep. Duties include: dusting, mopping, cleaning/disinfecting surfaces, emptying trash canisters and bringing trash to dumpster, cleaning/maintaining breakroom, restrooms, finishing/buffing/scrubbing floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, cleaning and restocking restrooms, minor maintenance work (ex. Touch up painting, minor repairs). This position reports to the Sanitation Lead.

Duties and Responsibilities of this position:

• Performs general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies.
• Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.
• Empties trash receptacles, disposes trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal.
• Operating cleaning equipment (ex. Floor scrubber)
• Unlocks doors, ensuring doors are locked after cleaning areas.
• Reports needs and concerns to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels.
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Performs cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/project requirements.
• May provide vendors with access to areas for cleaning and may answer basic questions. May report issues with vendors to supervisor.
• Assist or perform snow and ice removal activities.
• Provide minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, touch up painting, or other similar activities.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

• Familiarity with Office and Manufacturing facilities.
• Some High school or equivalent education.
• Ability to read.
• Ability to speak/understand English. Ability to speak a secondary language (ex. Spanish) helpful.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to understand verbal instructions.
• Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
• Ability to operate vacuums, floor scrubbers, and other related equipment.
• Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
• Ability to understand written and verbal communications.
• Obey all safety rules.
• The candidate must pass a company pre-employment physical and drug screen prior to commencing work.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands and stretch and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee may be required to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to climb ladders and work at elevations of 100 feet Must have full range of body motion.

Working Environment:

Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Must be able to wear facemask, ear plugs, safety glasses as needed. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.50 – $18.00 per hour
