Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Creative Director role based in Kampala. As Creative Director at Arudem, you'll be the creative heartbeat of our brand. You'll own the visual and conceptual direction of our marketing efforts, nurture our growing community, and ensure every piece of content we put out feels intentional, on-brand, and culturally relevant. You'll work closely with marketing, product, and leadership to bring bold ideas to life.

The Creative Director will lead the development of visual and experiential concepts across gaming, esports, interactive experiences, and brand initiatives. Responsibilities include defining creative vision, developing campaign concepts, overseeing design execution, and ensuring brand consistency across all touchpoints. The Creative Director will mentor and guide designers and artists, manage creative workflows and timelines, provide clear feedback, and stay current with industry trends in gaming, design, and emerging technologies.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and execute the creative direction across all marketing channels; digital, social, campaigns, and brand activations
  • Develop and maintain a consistent brand identity that resonates with gaming audiences
  • Manage and grow community engagement strategies, fostering genuine connections between Arudem and its players
  • Actively network with creators, influencers, partners, and industry figures to expand Arudem's presence
  • Collaborate with designers and give clear, informed creative feedback rooted in a strong appreciation for good design
  • Stay plugged into pop culture, gaming trends, and internet culture to keep Arudem's voice fresh and relevant
  • Champion a culture of creativity and continuous learning within the team

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in community management. You understand how to build and maintain an engaged audience
  • A strong eye for design and the ability to articulate what makes creative work effective (you don't need to be a designer, but you need to get design)
  • A genuine curiosity and willingness to learn about the gaming industry and pop culture; you're the kind of person who stays in the loop
  • Strong networking skills and a natural ability to build relationships
  • Demonstrated expertise in Creative Direction and Creative Strategy, with the ability to translate business and community goals into clear creative concepts.
  • Strong experience in Branding and brand development, including visual identity systems and brand storytelling for digital-first audiences.
  • Proficiency in Art Direction and Graphic Design, including layout, typography, color, and visual composition for both static and motion assets.
  • Experience leading creative projects in gaming, esports, entertainment, or related creative technology fields is highly beneficial.
  • Proven ability to manage and mentor creative teams, prioritize multiple projects, and deliver high-quality work under deadlines.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain creative decisions to both creative and non-creative stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, or similar) and an understanding of basic production workflows.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Visual Communications, Media, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in sales or business development
  • Existing connections within the gaming or creator economy space
  • Familiarity with gaming platforms, communities, or titles
