A prominent international group with diversified operations is seeking a high-caliber Country Manager to lead their multi-business portfolio in Zambia. This is a site-based, senior leadership appointment requiring a strategic professional with a background in mining, logistics, and financial management to oversee comprehensive in-country operations.
The Role & Strategic Mandate
As the primary group representative in Zambia, you will hold full accountability for the strategy, operations, and financial performance of all local entities. This role demands a leader who can navigate complex regulatory environments while driving a consistent culture of safety and accountability across diverse business units.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Financial & Statutory Stewardship: Full ownership of the consolidated in-country P&L, ensuring rigorous governance, annual audit readiness, and 100% compliance with ZRA tax requirements (VAT, WHT, PAYE, etc.).
- Operational Excellence: Oversight of multi-disciplinary teams across fuel management, cargo handling, and staging operations to ensure efficient turnaround times and zero demurrage.
- Strategic Growth: Proactively identifying and developing new mining client relationships and sourcing new supplier partnerships to expand the group's service offering in fuel supply and procurement.
- Capital Project Leadership: Directing the procurement and commissioning of critical infrastructure, including fuel laboratories and weighbridge equipment.
- HSE & Human Capital: Maintaining a "zero-harm" environment across all mine sites and managing the full HR function to ensure a compliant and engaged workforce.
Experience & Professional Profile
- Academic Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Engineering is essential. A professional designation such as CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA, or a Finance Honours degree is highly desirable.
- Management Tenure: A minimum of 8–10 years of professional management experience, including at least 3 years at a Country Manager or General Manager level.
- Industry Expertise: At least 5 years of experience within a mining environment, coupled with a strong foundation in logistics and supply chain management.
- Regional Exposure: Proven experience working in Zambia or Sub-Saharan Africa is strongly preferred, with a deep understanding of local statutory and labor relations.
Structure & Location
- Location: Site-based in Zambia with oversight of all national operations.
- Reporting Line: Reports directly to the Group Director.
- Remuneration: A competitive executive package commensurate with the seniority of the role.
