To drive revenue growth by providing expert technical service at the sales counter while proactively identifying and securing new business opportunities in the local market. This role requires a hybrid approach, balancing internal sales excellence with external field prospecting to expand AUTO 1’s footprint.
Key Responsibilities
1. Counter Sales & Technical Service
- Provide professional assistance to walk-in and telephonic customers regarding automotive parts, pricing, and availability.
- Accurately identify parts using electronic catalogs, VIN lookups, and technical specifications.
- Process sales transactions and quotations efficiently using the company’s POS system.
- Manage customer queries, technical complaints, and returns/warranty claims professionally.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and customer-friendly counter and display area.
2. External Business Development
- Market Expansion: Proactively identify and approach new B2B clients, including independent workshops, panel beaters, fleet owners, and mobile mechanics.
- Field Prospecting: Conduct regular site visits and "cold calls" within the branch territory to generate new leads.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective clients, converting leads into long-term cash or account customers.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor and report on local competitor activity, pricing trends, and customer needs to the Branch Manager.
3. Sales Performance & Administration
- Meet and exceed monthly individual sales, gross profit, and new account targets.
- Actively up-sell and cross-sell related automotive components and consumables.
- Prepare daily/weekly activity reports detailing client visits, quotes issued, and conversion rates.
- Assist with stock control, periodic stock takes, and maintaining high levels of administrative accuracy.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Grade 12 / Matric (Essential). A sales or automotive-related qualification is a distinct advantage.
- Experience: 2–5 years of experience in automotive parts sales (counter or external). Proven track record in meeting sales targets is required.
- Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of automotive components and systems; proficiency in POS systems and MS Office.
- Driver’s License: A valid Code 8 driver’s license is essential for external business development activities.
- Competencies: Results-driven, self-motivated, strong negotiation skills, and a professional, presentable appearance.
