Control Engineer

• Continuous improvement of the manufacturing process, including quality, throughput, availability and safety.

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize Cold Mill automation systems including PLCs, HMIs, drives, instrumentation and process control systems.

• Lead root cause analyses for major breakdowns, quality defects, and process interruptions and implement sustainable corrective actions.

• Implementing preventative and predictive maintenance systems.

• Executing and managing specialised engineering projects.

• Manage automation equipment obsolescence and lifecycle upgrades.

• Using modern information technology tools to analyse, plan and optimise.

• Support shutdown activities and provide technical support during critical plant breakdowns.

• Develop and modify PLC logic, control philosophies, interlocks, and HMI applications where required.

• Optimise rolling parameters to improve gauge control, flatness, strip quality, and mill throughput.

• BSc or BEng engineering degree, preferably in electrical, electronic, or electro-mechanical engineering.

• At least 10 years of experience in a heavy process manufacturing environment.

• Experience working on advanced control systems.

• A high degree of computer literacy, including experience in the use of development and application tools and statistical process control.

• PLC/DCS experience, or experience in other types of real-time controllers, including knowledge of and expertise in the maintenance of control systems.

• System integration between various control systems.

• Data Storage and server management of industrial servers’ experience.

• Knowledge of structured programming languages would be advantageous.

• Ability to adapt to various situations in a pressurised environment.

• An analytical, innovative and hands-on working style.

• Ability to interact with a diverse and multi-skilled team.
