About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented Contracts and Procurement Manager to oversee contract execution and procurement activities within an EPC project, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations while proactively managing claims, risks, and potential disputes to protect the company’s interests. The role involves supporting project and legal leadership, coordinating across teams, managing vendor performance, and maintaining strong documentation for dispute resolution. The ideal candidate has a relevant degree and at least 10 years of oil and gas experience, with strong expertise in EPC contract administration, claims management, and commercial risk control.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Contractual Oversight & Compliance
- Ensure the full and proper implementation of all contractual provisions in line with the EPC agreement and any other contracts entered by the company.
- Oversee the negotiation, execution, and administration of contracts to ensure that all obligations are met.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce contracting guidelines, ensuring consistency with internal policies and value protection objectives.
- Support the General Counsel and Project Manager in interpreting contract terms, obligations, and entitlements.
2. Claims Management & Dispute Resolution
- Identify, analyse, and document potential grounds for claims—both for and against the company.
- Maintain comprehensive claims register with supporting documentation.
- Lead early detection and strategic positioning for possible contract variations or disputes.
- Facilitate timely and structured resolution of contractual disputes to avoid escalation or project disruption.
3. Risk Management & Commercial Safeguarding
- Identify and mitigate legal, commercial, and operational risks associated with contracts and procurement activities.
- Safeguard the company’s financial and legal interests by minimizing exposure and maximizing potential recoveries.
- Monitor contractor and subcontractor performance to ensure alignment with contractual obligations.
4. Arbitration & Litigation Readiness
- Establish and maintain a robust evidentiary foundation in anticipation of possible arbitration or litigation.
- Collaborate closely with legal and project teams to ensure well-documented, defensible claim strategies.
5. Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Build and manage relationships with vendors and suppliers, including performance evaluations and issue resolution.
- Conduct vendor risk assessments and ensure accountability through performance metrics and compliance checks.
6. Cross-functional Collaboration
- Act as a liaison between legal, commercial, engineering, procurement, and project execution teams to ensure seamless contract management across functions.
- Ensure cohesive implementation of contract strategies for both ongoing and future projects.
7. Financial Oversight & Reporting
- Monitor budgets and expenditures related to contractual engagements.
- Prepare periodic reports detailing contract performance, risks, claims, and financial metrics for senior management.
8. Leadership & Capacity Development
- Supervise, mentor, and develop contract management staff.
- Lead the creation and regular update of the company’s contract management manual and tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field; a degree in law or supply chain management is a plus.
- More than ten (10+) years of experience in procurement, and contract management within Oil and Gas Project Contracting and Procurement.
- Proven track record of execution excellence and delivering results.
- Experience in post award contract management of EPC contracts (Contractor relationship, performance management, Contract Administration and Claims Management)
