As demand for mental health services continues to grow, TeleHealthSA is expanding its psychiatry division and onboarding a limited number of qualified psychiatrists to support ongoing patient demand through flexible remote consultations.
Position Overview
TeleHealthSA is seeking HPCSA-registered Psychiatrists to provide virtual psychiatric consultations on a flexible independent contractor basis.
This opportunity is ideally suited to psychiatrists interested in:
- Remote clinical work
- Flexible scheduling
- Supplementing existing private practice or hospital income
- Expanding patient reach through telemedicine
Consultations are conducted fully remotely through the TeleHealthSA platform.
Consultation Structure & Compensation
- R1,400 per completed 60-minute consultation
- Follow-up consultations conducted through the platform
- Monthly payment cycle
- No platform fees or subscription costs
- TeleHealthSA manages patient acquisition, scheduling, and administration
Flexibility
- Fully remote consultations
- Control your own availability
- No fixed schedules or minimum hours
- Accept consultations based on your preference and capacity
Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric assessments and follow-up consultations
- Diagnose and manage mental health conditions
- Prescribe and monitor treatment where appropriate
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation
- Deliver ethical, patient-centred psychiatric care
- Adhere to HPCSA and telemedicine guidelines
- Manage patients located within South Africa and internationally
Requirements
- Active and verifiable HPCSA registration as a Psychiatrist
- Relevant specialist qualifications in Psychiatry
- Strong clinical judgement and communication skills
- Reliable internet connection and suitable consultation environment
- Ability to conduct professional remote consultations independently
This role is NOT suitable for:
- Psychologists
- Counsellors
- Social Workers
- General Practitioners without specialist Psychiatry registration
