A growing engineering and construction business is seeking a driven and ambitious Project / Construction Manager to join its team. This opportunity is ideally suited to a young professional looking to accelerate their career within a fast-paced project environment, working across multiple construction and infrastructure projects.
The successful candidate will play a key role in planning, coordinating, and overseeing projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities Planning and Coordination
- Develop and manage project execution plans, schedules, and deliverables.
- Coordinate manpower, equipment, and material requirements across projects.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Liaise with design, procurement, and operational teams to ensure project alignment.
Construction Management
- Oversee daily site activities across multiple projects.
- Ensure work is executed according to drawings, specifications, and contractual requirements.
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel.
- Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Resolve technical, operational, and logistical challenges on site.
Project Management
- Manage projects through all phases, from initiation to handover.
- Monitor project progress and report on milestones and deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting.
Financial and Resource Management
- Assist with budgeting, procurement planning, and cost control.
- Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets.
- Evaluate supplier and subcontractor performance.
- Support efficient allocation and utilization of project resources.
Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead project teams and foster a collaborative working environment.
- Coordinate activities between internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain professional communication with clients, suppliers, and contractors.
- Assist in resolving project-related disputes and challenges.
Minimum Requirements
- BEng, BSc, National Diploma, BTech, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in construction, infrastructure, engineering, renewable energy, or project management environments.
- Exposure to site-based project execution and contractor management.
- Strong planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Legally authorised to work in South Africa.
Advantageous
- Experience with in renewable energy or Solar PV projects.
- Exposure to EPC, civil construction, infrastructure, mining, or industrial projects.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and reporting tools.
