Duties and Responsibilities

· Mix, Prepare and Bake a quality range of confectionery and dough products and; creatively decorate products;

· Detailed knowledge of confectionery products, ingredients and premixes and their quality indicators;

· Knead, roll, cut, and shape dough to assist the Head Baker if necessary.

· Place dough in pans, moulds, or on sheets and set oven temperatures.

· Pan, bake and decorate baked products, if necessary, to assist the Head Baker.

· Prepare equipment for baking / icing cakes.

· Observe the colour and state of products being baked. Apply glazes, icings, or other toppings.

· Assist and teach fellow colleagues and be respectful, appreciative; fair and thankful of other teammates

· Ensure the bakery management team exercise hygiene control and maintain excellent housekeeping protocols in compliance with health departments.

· Check expiry dates of merchandized products

· Keep the sales area, including the counters, refrigerator counters, shelves, walls and floors, clean and presentable always.

Requirements

· Grade 12

· Excellent communication skills.

· Excellent knowledge of bakery products.

· Knowledge of bakery operations & hygiene and safety standards.

· Possess creative flair for product presentation.

Experience

· Minimum of two years’ Confectioner and baking experience
