Job Title: Risk and Compliance Analyst

Company: Korrency

Type: Full-time Contractor

Department: Risk & Compliance

About Korrency

Korrency is a cross-border remittance company built for African diaspora communities in Canada, the UK, and across the EU. We're FINTRAC-regulated and registered with the Bank of Canada as a Payment Service Provider. Our customers trust us to move their money quickly, transparently, and safely — and we take that seriously.

The Role

We're looking for a Risk and Compliance Analyst to join our compliance team. You'll review transactions, investigate alerts, screen customers, and help us meet our regulatory obligations across multiple jurisdictions, including FINTRAC, FCA, and EU AML directives.

You'll report to the Compliance Officer and be part of a small team where your judgment directly impacts how we operate.

What You'll Do

  • Transaction Monitoring & Investigation
  • Review daily alerts, investigate flagged activity, document your findings, and escalate when needed. Prepare STR drafts for Compliance Officer sign-off.
  • KYC & Customer Due Diligence
  • Review KYC documents for new and existing customers. Conduct enhanced due diligence on high-risk customers. Keep compliance records accurate and audit-ready.
  • Screening
  • Process sanctions and PEP screening alerts. Assess and classify matches. Maintain screening logs.
  • Reporting & Support
  • Produce compliance reports and metrics. Support audits and regulatory examinations. Handle compliance-related customer inquiries. Assist with customer risk assessments.

What We're Looking For

  • 3–5 years in an AML, KYC, or compliance role at a bank, fintech, or money transfer company
  • Demonstrated experience conducting investigations — building a case, identifying typologies, and documenting findings that hold up under regulatory review
  • Experience with customer risk assessments and enhanced due diligence
  • Working knowledge of sanctions and PEP screening processes
  • Ability to identify red flags across transaction patterns, not just individual transactions
  • Strong written English — your STR drafts, investigation notes, and escalation memos need to be clear and defensible
  • Comfortable working remotely, managing your own priorities, and exercising judgment independently

Nice to Have

  • Experience with remittance or cross-border payments
  • CAMS, ICA, or equivalent compliance certification
  • Experience with transaction monitoring or sanctions screening tools
  • Familiarity with FINTRAC, FCA, or CBN regulatory frameworks
  • Experience preparing SARs or STRs

Why Korrency

  • Meaningful work. Our customers are real people — sending money home, paying tuition, supporting businesses across borders. Your work keeps them safe.
  • Multi-jurisdictional exposure. Canadian, UK, and EU regulatory frameworks — not just one.
  • Compliance built properly. We're building this function the right way. You'll help shape it as we grow.
  • Small team, real ownership. No bureaucracy. Your judgment carries weight here.
  • Competitive pay.
