The Role

We are looking for a Community Manager who doesn’t just manage a community—but builds one people genuinely want to belong to.

This role sits at the heart of TEDxMaitama’s ecosystem. You will be responsible for growing, engaging, and activating our audience across digital and physical touchpoints—turning followers into participants, and participants into advocates.

What You’ll Do

Community Growth & Engagement

  • Build and execute strategies to grow TEDxMaitama’s community across platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, X, WhatsApp, email, etc.)
  • Create meaningful engagement—conversations, polls, discussions, and community-led content
  • Develop and manage a strong community voice aligned with TEDx values

Content & Storytelling

  • Collaborate with the media team to create content that sparks dialogue, not just views
  • Highlight community stories, speaker journeys, and behind-the-scenes moments
  • Turn TEDx talks into ongoing conversations, not one-time content

Community Experience

  • Design and manage online and offline community experiences (meetups, salons, webinars, workshops)
  • Ensure every interaction with TEDxMaitama feels intentional, premium, and human
  • Manage community onboarding and retention strategies

Partnerships & Ecosystem Building

  • Identify and collaborate with relevant communities, creators, and organizations
  • Build relationships with ambassadors, volunteers, and repeat attendees
  • Support partnerships that deepen community value

Data & Insights

  • Track engagement metrics and community growth
  • Gather feedback and insights to improve experience and programming
  • Continuously refine what works (and cut what doesn’t)

Who You Are

  • You understand people. Not just numbers.
  • You’ve built or managed a community before (online or offline)
  • You are creative, proactive, and deeply organized
  • You are an excellent communicator (written and verbal)
  • You are culturally aware and understand African creators, and innovation spaces
  • You don’t wait for instructions—you see gaps and act

Nice to Have

  • Experience with events, media, or storytelling platforms
  • Background in social media management or content creation
  • Familiarity with tools like Notion, Slack, Meta Business Suite, analytics tools, etc.
