Community Builder Jobs in Côte d’Ivoire at Moneco (YC S22)

Title: Community Builder

Company: Moneco (YC S22)

Location: Côte d’Ivoire

About Moneco & The Role

Moneco is a multi-currency financial platform (EUR/USD/USDC, SEPA/ACH, virtual VISA card, remittances) built for French-speaking Africans. Our users are entrepreneurs, freelancers, e-commerce operators, travel businesses, tourists, etc — who need to get paid globally and spend globally.

We have an initial PMF and an active early community. As a Community Builder, you won’t just manage what already exists — you’ll architect Moneco’s community presence from the ground up. You’ll be our voice in comment sections, our organizer in WhatsApp groups, our scout for partners, and the person who makes our users feel like they’re part of something bigger.

This role works directly with the co-founders and the Head of Growth.

What You’ll Own

Community Management & Engagement

  • Monitor and respond to all comments and reviews across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, and YouTube — daily, with speed and personality.
  • Own App Store, Google Play, and Trustpilot reputation: respond to every review, flag product issues, report on sentiment weekly.
  • Proactively engage in third-party conversations — posts about Moneco, fintech in Africa, cross-border payments. Join the thread, add value, create recall (think Ryanair, Burger King CM style).
  • Monitor brand mentions and hashtags in real time. Turn negative moments into brand opportunities.
  • Escalate recurring user pain points to Product and Growth with structured weekly feedback.

Community Building & Growth

  • Build and own Moneco’s community infrastructure: WhatsApp groups, Telegram channels, in-person events — wherever our users actually are.
  • Design community growth loops: referral mechanics, ambassador programs, peer-to-peer virality, etc.
  • Recruit, brief, and coordinate creators across key markets (Benin, Algeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Cameroun, Togo, Morocco, Tunisia, Madagascar).
  • Partner with local communities, associations, and professional networks to grow Moneco’s presence organically.
  • Design viral campaigns: challenges, contests, referral loops adapted to African platforms and culture.

Content

  • Own the social media content calendar across primary platforms — manage scheduling, coordinate with creators, ensure narrative consistency across platforms.
  • Spot trends, memes, and cultural moments in our communities early — and turn them into content before they peak.
  • Work with the growth team to align content with acquisition campaigns and product launches.
  • Bonus: if you can produce content yourself — short-form video, carousels, basic motion graphics — that's a major plus. We're not expecting a full design suite, but the ability to move fast without always relying on external resources makes a real difference at our stage.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Track engagement, sentiment, and community growth metrics across all platforms.
  • Report weekly with clear signals on what’s working and what to cut.

Who You Are

Must-Haves

  • 2–4+ years in community management, social media, or brand engagement — ideally at a consumer app, fintech, or fast-growing startup.
  • Proven ability to build communities from scratch, not just manage existing ones.
  • Exceptional written French and English — sharp, human, culturally fluent. You write the way people actually talk. Arabic (darija) is a plus.
  • Deep intuition for social media — you know what makes a thread go viral and a comment section come alive.
  • Experience managing brand reputation on App Store, Google Play, and Trustpilot.
  • Strong awareness of African internet culture, trends, and community codes.
  • Highly autonomous and proactive — you don’t wait to be told what to engage with.
  • Resilient — you can handle criticism, trolls, and negative reviews without losing your voice.

Strong Signals

  • Direct experience living or working in francophone Africa.
  • Existing personal network of creators, influencers, or community leaders in our target markets.
  • Experience building ambassador or referral programs.
  • Familiarity with fintech.
  • You already run a personal brand or community of your own.
  • You have a strong opinion on how Moneco should show up online — and you can defend it.

How You’ll Be Measured

First 90 Days

  • Full audit of Moneco’s community footprint: response rates, sentiment by platform, review scores, brand mentions.
  • 100% response rate on all reviews and comments — live within week 2.
  • First community touchpoints activated: WhatsApp groups live, ambassador shortlist drafted.
  • Proactive engagement playbook written and running: which threads to enter, how, and what to avoid.
  • Content calendar owned and running in coordination with the growth team.
  • First in-person or digital community events scoped.

6–12 Months

  • App Store, Google Play, and Trustpilot ratings trending upward with measurable review volume increase.
  • Active communities growing, with documented retention and engagement metrics.
  • Community-driven referrals contributing meaningfully to new user acquisition (tracked and attributed).
  • Brand presence in third-party spaces (fintech groups, LinkedIn threads) consistently driving awareness.
  • A documented, repeatable community playbook that can scale with a team.

What You’ll Get

  • High-impact, foundational role at a YC-backed fintech.
  • Competitive salary + meaningful equity.
  • Direct line to the founders — full ownership, no bureaucracy.
  • Remote-first culture across Europe and Africa.
  • A product with real traction and users who care.
  • A mission that matters: financial access for millions across francophone Africa.
