Commercial Attorney – Data Privacy Compliance –

Level: Senior Associate. Morae Global is on the lookout for top-tier talent, professionals who combine legal expertise with practical experience to deliver high-quality solutions to our clients.
We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Privacy professional with proven experience in conducting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs/DPIAs) and reviewing/negotiating Data Processing Agreements (DPAs). You will support global clients in implementing privacy frameworks, identifying and mitigating risk, and independently leading assessments.
Responsibilities
Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA/DPIA)
- Conduct end-to-end PIAs/DPIAs
- Identify processing activities, data flows, and risk areas
- Assess legal bases, proportionality, and necessity of processing
- Recommend mitigation measures and controls
- Collaborate with business, IT, security, and product teams to gather inputs and validate processing activities
- Maintain documentation and support the full assessment lifecycle in One Trust (initiation → review → approval → closure)
Data Processing Agreement (DPA) Review & Negotiation
- Review, draft, and negotiate DPAs and data protection clauses in vendor/customer contracts
- Identify key risk areas, including:
- Sub-processing and vendor risk
- Data security, breach notification, and audit rights
- Data retention, deletion, and cross-border transfer mechanisms
- Apply internal playbooks/templates for consistency in DPA reviews
- Support redlining and negotiation cycles with stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Information Security, Data Privacy, or related field
- IAPP – CIPP/CIPM certification is an advantage
- Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in transaction documentation, with proven exposure to risk and data privacy compliance
- Ability to lead Privacy Risk Assessments for clients across geographies and product types
- Exposure to global privacy regulations (e.g., CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, UK-GDPR)
