ABOUT THE ROLE
African Gems & Minerals CC (est. 1984), a Cape Town specialist in coloured gemstones, rough minerals and faceting equipment, seeks an experienced Coloured Stone Gem Cutter (Lapidary).
DUTIES
1. Hand-cutting, shaping and faceting of rough coloured gemstones
2. Operating and maintaining lapidary and faceting equipment
3. Assessing rough stone quality and determining optimal cutting angles
4. Finishing and polishing cut stones to retail and export standard
5. Quality control of finished gemstones
REQUIREMENTS
1. Minimum 5 years hands-on lapidary experience
2. Proficiency with faceting machines, trim saws and grinding wheels
3. Knowledge of coloured gemstone varieties and grading
4. High attention to detail and precision
