Job Title: Close Protection Officer / Personal Security Assistant
Reports To: PSA Manager
Location: Vanderbijlpark / Sasolburg / Vereeniging
Job Purpose
To ensure the personal safety and protection of principals (executives, VIPs, or high-profile individuals) by conducting risk assessments, advance planning, and protective escort duties in compliance with PSIRA CPO standards and applicable legislation.
Key Responsibilities / Key Result Areas (KRAs)
- Conduct risk, threat, and vulnerability assessments for principals using their itinerary.
- Perform advance reconnaissance of venues, routes, and travel schedules/routes.
- Maintain protective formations during foot and vehicle movements.
- Coordinate secure transport and protective driving with drivers and at the principal`s residence.
- Ensure secure arrivals and departures at venues, airports, and public events where applicable.
- Maintain situational awareness and implement counter-surveillance techniques.
- Provide first-line emergency response in medical or security incidents.
- Always protect principal’s confidentiality and personal information.
- Identify and neutralize potential threats through continuous surveillance and counter-surveillance detection.
- If designated as a driver, perform defensive and evasive driving techniques where applicable.
- Prepare operational plans, advance reports, and post-operation debriefs.
- Serve as a key member of the protection team, maintaining constant communication using technical and non-technical means.
- Liaise discreetly and professionally with the principal, their staff and other stakeholders.
- Liaise with SAPS, local security, and event organisers where necessary.
Minimum Requirements
- Valid and Good Standing PSIRA registration.
- Firearm Competency Certificate for Handgun and Business Purpose.
- Valid driver’s license
- Advanced/protective driving training advantageous.
- Clean criminal record (SAPS/PSIRA checks).
- Strong background in Close Protection / Security Industry Law Enforcement / Military experience preferred.
- High level of physical fitness and professional grooming.

Working Conditions
- Frequent and extensive travel with irregular working hours and time away from home.
- Extended shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays as per principal’s schedule.
The employee will also be required to perform any reasonable duties or tasks that may be introduced by the employer/principal from time to time, after consultation with the employee.
