Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Clamp Truck Operator to join our warehouse team at a leading distribution center. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating clamp trucks and other heavy equipment to efficiently load, unload, and transport materials within the warehouse environment. This role plays a vital part in maintaining smooth warehouse operations, ensuring timely order fulfillment, and supporting overall materials handling processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, excellent safety awareness, and experience with warehouse management systems.
Responsibilities
- Operate clamp trucks, reach trucks, forklifts, and other heavy equipment to load and unload goods accurately and safely.
- Handle materials with precision using equipment such as pallet jacks, order pickers, and Hi-Lo trucks.
- Assist in order picking activities to fulfill customer orders efficiently.
- Conduct routine inspections and minor repairs on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain proper documentation of inventory movements within the warehouse management system.
- Support shipping and receiving operations by verifying shipments against purchase orders.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and warehouse safety protocols at all times.
- Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to coordinate daily tasks and prioritize workload.
- Perform heavy lifting when required, adhering to safe lifting techniques.
- Assist in warehouse distribution activities to optimize space utilization and workflow.
Experience
- Proven experience operating clamp trucks, reach trucks, or similar heavy equipment within a warehouse setting.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control procedures.
- Familiarity with order picking processes and warehouse distribution practices.
- Previous experience in shipping & receiving, materials handling, or logistics is highly desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge related to equipment repair and maintenance is a plus.
- Understanding of OSHA regulations related to forklift operation and heavy equipment safety.
- Basic math skills for inventory counting, measurements, and documentation accuracy.
- Prior experience working in fast-paced warehouse environments with a focus on safety and efficiency.
- Warehouse supervisor experience or familiarity with warehouse management systems is advantageous.
