1.1 Role Purpose
The Chief Technical Officer (CTO) holds end-to-end accountability for technical delivery across Renewability's project execution business. This role owns engineering integrity, technology selection, procurement standards, and construction quality across all delivery models — IPP/PPA, EPC Turnkey, EP-C, and Asset Management — ensuring every project is technically sound, bankable, and delivered to international standards.
1.2 Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Engineering
- Own the technical delivery framework across solar PV, BESS, and modular/containerized gas turbine projects, from pre-feasibility through to commissioning
- Direct site-specific energy assessments and pre-feasibility reports ahead of any commercial proposal
- Define and enforce engineering design standards, performance ratio benchmarks, and testing/commissioning protocols across all projects
- Guarantee that all delivered systems are bankable to third-party lenders and fully insurable at commissioning
Procurement & Supply Chain
- Set procurement strategy, mandating Tier 1 OEM suppliers with back-to-back FX protection and liquidated damages (LD) provisions
- Manage OEM relationships, warranty escalation protocols, and spare parts strategy in support of Asset Management operations
- Oversee equipment technical due diligence and contractor pre-qualification for all EPC Turnkey and EP-C mandates
Regulatory & Certification
- Lead technical submissions for NREA Platinum Tier certification (target: Q4 2026)
- Support EgyptERA licensing applications and regulatory navigation
- Ensure full project compliance with HSE standards, environmental regulations, and EETC grid connection and interconnection requirements
Commercial Interface
- Provide technical input into PPA tariff structuring, EPC commercial proposals, and performance guarantee frameworks
- Support Advisory mandates with independent technical feasibility analysis and energy audit deliverables
- Act as primary technical interface with lenders, independent engineers, and leasing partners on bankability requirements
1.3 Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Energy Engineering (BSc minimum; MSc/PhD preferred)
- Minimum 12 years' technical experience in the energy sector, including at least 5 years in senior technical leadership
- Proven delivery track record across solar PV and at least one of: BESS, modular gas turbines, or hybrid distributed generation
- Full EPC delivery experience — from engineering design through testing, commissioning, and performance verification
- Working knowledge of bankability standards for IPP projects and lender technical due diligence requirements
- Familiarity with the Egyptian regulatory framework: NREA, EgyptERA, and EETC grid connection codes
Preferred
- Experience working with Tier 1 OEM suppliers on utility-scale or C&I distributed generation projects
- Technical exposure to green hydrogen, green ammonia, or LNG
- Prior experience in Egypt, Sub-Saharan Africa, or the Middle East energy market
- Registration with the Egyptian Engineering Syndicate or an equivalent professional body
