Title: Chief Sales Officer

Company: Aptigen

Location: Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa

Company Description

Aptigen is a forward-thinking edtech platform leveraging data analytics and AI to improve how students discover and develop their career potential. By analyzing academic performance trends, personality indicators, emotional intelligence factors, and behavioural interests, the platform generates predictive career insights including career alignment probabilities, success likelihood, and long-term skill development forecasts. Our mission is to help learners make more informed decisions about their futures and build meaningful career paths.

Aptigen has already begun building early traction through discussions with potential reseller partners and schools interested in implementing the platform, with the goal of launching early pilot programs and partnerships.

Role Description

This is a full-time remote role within South Africa. As the Chief Sales Officer at Aptigen, you will be responsible for developing and executing the company’s commercial strategy and driving early adoption of the platform. This is a founding-stage leadership role focused on building the sales and partnership engine from the ground up.

You will work closely with the founder to establish relationships with schools, education organisations, and institutional partners, while developing the go-to-market strategy and identifying early customers and pilot opportunities.

Aptigen is already in discussions with reseller partners and schools exploring early adoption of the platform. The CSO will play a key role in helping convert these discussions into active partnerships, assisting in closing these opportunities and building long-term relationships with these organisations.

Responsibilities include building strategic partnerships, developing the company’s sales process and pricing strategy, identifying distribution channels, supporting the closing of early reseller and school partnership opportunities, and securing early customer agreements. As the company grows, you will play a key role in expanding the sales function and scaling revenue generation.

  • Proven ability to build relationships and close deals
  • Comfortable working in early-stage or entrepreneurial environments
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to develop and execute sales strategies and go-to-market plans
  • Interest in education technology, data-driven platforms, or talent development

Experience working with schools, education institutions, or in the edtech sector would be advantageous. A degree in business, marketing, or a related field is beneficial but not required for the right candidate.

Compensation and Package

• First 3 months: Fully commission-based compensation

• Commission: 25% of the value of closed deals

• Equity participation available for the right candidate, structured with a vesting schedule aligned with long-term contribution

After 3 months (upon achieving agreed company sales milestones):

• Base salary: R10,000 per month

• Commission: 25% of the value of closed deals going forward

• Continued eligibility for equity participation based on contribution and company growth

Who This Role Is For

  • This role is best suited for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset who enjoys building new ventures from the ground up. We are looking for someone motivated by growth, ownership, and long-term upside rather than a traditional corporate salary structure.
