Department: Executive Leadership Team (ExCo) Role Purpose

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is accountable for the overall leadership, strategic direction, operational performance, and financial success of a leading agricultural inputs and agribusiness platform operating across Central Africa.

The CEO will lead the transformation of the business from a production-focused fertilizer and agro-input manufacturer into an integrated agricultural solutions enterprise serving farmers, distributors, aggregators, and regional markets. The position carries full profit and loss responsibility and ownership of growth, operational excellence, innovation, organizational capability, governance, and stakeholder engagement.

The role requires a strong transformational leader capable of scaling a multi-site agribusiness operation while driving commercial growth, manufacturing efficiency, product diversification, and regional expansion across Central Africa.

Key Accountabilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Business Transformation
  • Develop and execute the company's long-term growth strategy.
  • Lead the transformation from a fertilizer-centric business into a diversified agricultural solutions platform.
  • Drive expansion into new product categories including:
    • Fertilizers
    • Crop Protection Products
    • Agricultural Machinery
    • Irrigation Solutions
    • Specialty Chemicals
  • Establish scalable operating models to support future growth.
  • Deliver strategic priorities approved by the Board.
  • Financial Performance & P&L Management
  • Maintain full accountability for company-wide P&L performance.
  • Deliver annual revenue and profitability targets.
  • Drive gross margin expansion and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Improve working capital efficiency and cash conversion cycles.
  • Strengthen pricing discipline and commercial profitability.
  • Ensure robust capital allocation and investment decisions.

  • Full P&L accountability in agribusiness, fertilizers, agro-inputs, chemicals, FMCG, or related sectors.
  • Proven leadership of multi-site operations in emerging markets.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale business transformation.
  • Track record of driving commercial growth and operational excellence.
  • Experience in distribution-led and rural market ecosystems.
  • Experience in Sub-Saharan Africa or Central African markets.
  • Experience in agricultural value chains.
  • ERP-led transformation experience.
  • Experience in PE-backed, listed, or governance-intensive organizations.
  • Regional market expansion experience.
  • Bachelor s Degree in Business, Engineering, Agriculture, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
  • Fluent English and Portuguese
