The Chief Accountant will manage full accounting, statutory compliance, financial reporting, payroll, inventory accounting and internal financial control for LifeDX Africa in Tanzania. The role requires a hands-on professional who can independently organize accounting processes for a growing manufacturing / assembly and distribution business.
Main Responsibilities :
- Full accounting and bookkeeping for the company in Tanzania.
- Monthly closing, management reports and financial reporting to management.
- Control of primary documents, invoices, payments, bank reconciliations and cash flow records.
- Payroll accounting and statutory deductions.
- Tax compliance: VAT, PAYE, SDL/PSDL, NSSF, WCF and other applicable Tanzanian statutory obligations.
- Liaison with TRA, banks, auditors, consultants and other authorities when required.
- Preparation for audits and support during external audits.
- Inventory and stock accounting, including finished goods, raw materials, write-offs and stock movements.
- Cost accounting for manufacturing operations.
- Support with budgeting, budget control and financial planning.
- Implementation and daily use of accounting / ERP systems, preferably Odoo.
- Internal control over payments, expenses, procurement documentation and financial discipline.
Required Experiences and Qualifications :
- CPA(T), ACCA or equivalent professional qualification.
- NBAA registration / active NBAA status is preferred and should be checked for final candidates.
- 5+ years of accounting / finance experience.
- Experience as Chief Accountant, Senior Accountant or Finance Manager.
- Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax compliance, TRA procedures, payroll taxes and statutory reporting.
- Good knowledge of IFRS and preparation of financial statements.
- Experience with inventory accounting, cost accounting and monthly closing.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Experience with Odoo, Tally, QuickBooks or another ERP/accounting system.
- Fluent English and Swahili.
Preferred Background
- Manufacturing, medical devices, pharma, food, FMCG, import/distribution or another regulated business.
- Experience in an audit firm or with audit preparation.
- Experience in setting up accounting processes in a growing company.
