We are partnering with a large, nationally significant healthcare organisation undergoing major transformation to appoint a Strategic Category Manager within its Procurement & Supply Chain function.
This is a high-impact role managing complex, high-value categories, with multimillion dollar annual spend.
You will play a key role in shaping commercial strategy, driving value, and influencing procurement outcomes across a large and complex healthcare ecosystem.
The Role
You Will
- Lead end-to-end category strategy development and execution
- Drive strategic sourcing, supplier performance, and contract management
- Manage high-value commercial agreements (up to $5M+)
- Partner with senior stakeholders across clinical, operational, and executive teams
- Deliver cost optimisation, innovation, and value creation
- Influence procurement strategy within a large-scale, complex system
Non-Negotiables (Must Have)
To Be Considered, Candidates Must Demonstrate
- 8-10+ years experience in:
- Category Management
- Strategic Sourcing
- Procurement leadership
- Proven experience managing large, complex spend categories
- Strong track record in:
- Contract negotiation
- Supplier relationship management
- Commercial strategy execution
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Develop and implement category strategies
- Deliver measurable cost savings and value creation
- Strong stakeholder management across senior leadership and cross-functional teams
- Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business or related field
- Ability to operate in a complex, highly regulated environment
Highly Desirable
- Experience in:
- Healthcare / hospital systems
- FMCG / manufacturing procurement environments
- Exposure to:
- Multinational or multi-site operations
- Large-scale transformation or centralisation initiatives
Relocation Requirement
- This is an international opportunity
- Candidates must be willing to relocate outside of South Africa
- Mobility, adaptability, and long-term relocation interest are essential
