Job Description

  • Manage the Care Home and ensure effective service delivery to residents receiving oncology treatment.
  • Oversee daily operations of the facility, including staff supervision and resident support services.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational policies, administrative procedures, and financial management requirements.
  • Support the sustainability of the Care Home through responsible budget management and fundraising initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Liaise and communicate professionally with patients and oncology treatment facilities.
  • Manage referrals, bookings, patient intake, and orientation processes.
  • Provide information and support to patients, including guidance related to cancer care.
  • Supervise and manage Care Home staff and coordinate daily operational activities.
  • Oversee administration and ensure compliance with financial and organisational policies.
  • Monitor income and expenditure in line with the approved budget.
  • Manage the medical aid claims process for private patients.
  • Prepare and submit required monthly reports. Recruit, mentor, and supervise volunteers.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with stakeholders and treatment facilities.
  • Serve as the Health and Safety Representative (SHE Rep), including identifying workplace hazards, assisting with incident investigations, coordinating emergency procedures, and communicating with the Health and Safety Committee.
  • Facilitate fundraising initiatives and secure in-kind donations to support Care Home sustainability.

Qualifications And Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with valid registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing a care facility or similar institution.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in financial administration or accounting.
  • Competencies Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual in English and Afrikaans.
  • Strong ability to engage with stakeholders, treatment facilities, and government departments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet-based applications.
  • Strong organisational, time management, and customer service skills.
  • Professional attitude and presentation.
  • Ability to provide emotional support to cancer patients and their families.
