Midwest Pulmonary Consultants is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Assistant – Call Center Representative to serve as the first point of contact for patients. This role combines exceptional customer service with clinical knowledge to support patient scheduling, care coordination, and communication between patients and providers. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, and capable of managing a high volume of calls while maintaining a positive patient experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Answer and manage high-volume inbound and outbound patient calls in a professional and courteous manner.
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments for pulmonary, sleep medicine, and related specialty services.
- Triage patient concerns and route clinical questions to appropriate providers or nursing staff.
- Provide patients with instructions regarding appointments, testing, procedures, referrals, and medication requests.
- Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and eligibility.
- Coordinate referrals, authorizations, diagnostic testing, and follow-up appointments.
- Document patient interactions accurately and timely within the electronic health record (EHR).
- Process prescription refill requests according to established protocols.
- Assist patients with portal access, forms, and general office inquiries.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, medical assistants, and administrative staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Support office operations and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical Assistant certification preferred.
- Minimum one year of experience in a medical office, call center, or healthcare customer service environment preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare workflows.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and practice management systems preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Pay: $17.50 – $19.00 per hour
