Job Description

SUMMARY

The Buyer/Planner will be responsible for the ordering, planning, sourcing, and procurement functions associated with procuring goods, services and raw materials needed for production. This may include raw materials, capital equipment, tools, freight, parts, and supplies for the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Plan and order raw materials for production.
  • Reviews daily production requirements and ensure availability of all materials needed.
  • Collaborate with customers and independently to develop sourcing strategies, which result in supply base optimization. Facilitate and lead sourcing projects when necessary.
  • Negotiate with supplier partners for cost savings and price increase avoidance, work with Business Development to ensure all price increases are administered to the customer.
  • Manage invoice issues and discrepancies with the AP team, such that supplier payments are made timely and credit hold is avoided.
  • Work with production to identify short falls in core, dunnage and material and coordinate efforts to remedy any issues.
  • Prepare reports as required.
  • Take ownership to lead all purchasing and supply chain activities for the location; align with counterparts at other plants.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain supplier relations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
