Position: Business Risk Officer (Non-Life Insurance)
Job Summary
To engage with the business entities to provide risk expertise in guiding and enabling them to execute their risk management processes in a manner consistent with the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and related policies and standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist business to understand the requirements of the ERMF and ensure gaps are identified and actioned to ensure compliance.
- Determine and report the BU risk profile and control environment.
- Participate in the dispensation, waiver, and breaches process.
- Continuously assess risks and assist in designing control activities to respond to risks across the BU, particularly in the third‑party relationship landscape.
- Provide sound risk advice by working closely with Business, Risk, Governance & Control, and Assurance teams.
- Proactively build and maintain relationships with business and serve as a contact point for any risk‑related matters.
- Review and challenge risk and control self‑assessments and associated structures and processes.
- Make recommendations to business related to processes, procedures, policies and how to improve the risk environment, including conducting deep dives to identify control inefficiencies.
- Engage BU to better understand emerging risks and formulate the BU risk response.
- Participate in the risk appetite process, risk events/root cause analysis/lessons learnt, and key risk indicators.
- Provide independent oversight and challenge on the governance and progress of major change programmes impacting or initiated by the business.
- Ensure that all risk reports are compiled, are of good quality, and are submitted timeously as required.
- Agree on tactical and strategic remediation plans and oversee and challenge implementation against predefined outcomes.
- Ensure business is trained on the ERMF requirements and the usage of the applicable risk management system.
- Participate in the combined assurance plan and engage with assurance providers.
- Handle regulatory reporting and presentations.
- Participate in the new and amended product review process.
Qualifications
- Bachelor Honours Degree in Economics and Management Science.
- Bachelor Honours Degree in Internal Auditing (Required).
