Our client, a well-established player in the transport and logistics sector, is looking for a commercially driven Business Development Manager to join their team in Johannesburg.

This role is suited to a true deal-maker who thrives on building relationships, opening doors, and driving revenue growth. You will take full ownership of developing and expanding a client base within the transport space, with the backing of an established operational and support structure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and secure new business opportunities within the transport and logistics industry.
  • Build, manage, and grow a strong and sustainable client base.
  • Develop long-term relationships with key clients and decision-makers.
  • Drive revenue growth through proactive business development and deal-making.
  • Engage the market through cold calling, networking, and industry presence.
  • Take full ownership of your sales pipeline, targets, and performance.
  • Work closely with operations to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Contribute to the overall commercial growth strategy of the business.

Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification will be advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within the transport or logistics industry.
  • Proven track record in business development or commercial sales.
  • Established network and client base within transport, ideally within tautliner and bulk.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Confident in cold calling and opening new markets.
  • Highly self-motivated, target-driven, and results-focused.
  • Ability to operate independently and take ownership of outcomes.
  • Computer literate across standard business systems.
