Business Development Manager – Payments / Fintech

We are seeking a dynamic and results‑driven Business Development Manager to join our Payments Division.

In this role, you will drive new business acquisition across South Africa and selected African markets, directly contributing to revenue growth and market expansion. This opportunity is ideal for a commercially strong sales professional with a proven track record in fintech, banking, or payments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, target, and acquire new fintech clients across banks, retailers, PSPs, mobile money operators, digital lenders, and enterprise customers.
  • Develop and execute structured prospecting strategies including cold calling, networking, LinkedIn outreach, and industry event engagement.
  • Manage full end‑to‑end sales cycles from lead generation through to negotiation and contract closure.
  • Present and position payment and fintech solutions to senior stakeholders and executive decision‑makers.
  • Identify cross‑selling and upselling opportunities across terminals, services, and emerging technologies.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships throughout acquisition and onboarding phases.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and provide reliable pipeline and revenue forecasts.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to inform strategic growth initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Marketing, Technical, Call Centre, Production) to ensure successful client onboarding and delivery.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Sales, Marketing, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in business development or enterprise sales.
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding revenue targets.
  • Experience within the Banking, Payments, or Fintech sector is essential.
  • Experience operating in African markets is advantageous.
