Role: Business Development Manager & License Representative – Mining Guarantees
An exciting opportunity is available for a commercially driven and relationship-focused professional to join a highly specialised Mining Guarantees division operating at the intersection of insurance, mining, credit risk, and business development
This role forms part of a strategic partnership between a licensed financial services provider and a specialist underwriting management business focused on mining guarantee solutions across South Africa and broader African markets
Company and Job Description:
As the Business Development Manager & License Representative, you will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth, strengthening strategic relationships, and supporting the ongoing expansion of the Mining Guarantees division
You will work closely with sophisticated clients ranging from privately held mining companies to publicly listed organisations operating across multiple jurisdictions
This position combines:
- Strategic business development
- Client and broker relationship management
- Market engagement
- Deal facilitation
- Operational coordination
The successful candidate will work closely with underwriting and risk teams to deliver premium service, innovative guarantee solutions, and sustainable business growth across domestic and African markets
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Market Growth
- Drive business development initiatives across South African and African markets
- Identify new market opportunities and support divisional growth strategies
Distribution & Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong broker, intermediary, and client relationships
- Support the expansion of distribution channels and partnership opportunities
Client Service & Deal Management
- Oversee the quoting and onboarding process for new facilities and policies
- Participate in credit committee discussions and assist with negotiating facility terms and approvals
Operational Excellence
- Analyse sales and quoting trends to improve operational effectiveness
- Maintain high standards of client service, responsiveness, and retention
Experience, Qualification and Skills:
- BCom degree or related financial qualification
- FAIS compliant and RE5 completed (ideally)
- Proven experience in a client-facing role within – Insurance, Guarantees, Credit or the Mining sector
- Previous experience within the guarantees market will be highly advantageous
- Demonstrated success in business development, revenue generation, and strategic relationship management
- Strong understanding of market dynamics, distribution channels, and African business environments
- Ability to engage credibly with senior executives, brokers, financiers, and mining industry stakeholders
