Business Development Advisor: Indian Ocean Islands (Based in Mauritius) Jobs in Johannesburg at lixil africa

Purpose of the role

BDAs are the key point of contact between an organization and its Trade/Project Channel clients. This role is responsible for identifying business opportunities, building and maintaining strong customer relationships and strategic key account management.

Roles and Responsibilities

● Assess and target new relationships and maintain them.

● Adhere to and meet all KPI’s.

● Achieve weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual targets.

● Complete daily and monthly reports.

● Compare/monitor competitors’ activities & product trends in the retail market, report such activity.

● Develop & maintain customer relationships and develop, grow and retain assigned accounts within the designated territory.

● Open new doors for business by sourcing and securing new clients.

● Initiate and manage sales promotions, training and scheduling of customers visits arranged in conjunction with the Marketing Leader and Sales Leader and in line with the budget or forecast.

● Manage and respond to customer queries and ongoing support requirements.

● Initiate structured sales review meetings with key companies / branches / customers.

● Identify new sales opportunities and communicate to all relevant parties in terms of brands, projects or markets.

● Communicate sales performance with the aid of reports and draw up short-term /long term plans for merchants/branches sales targets.

● Manage structured call cycles and call plans with regard to customer visits, road trips, launches and provide feedback of all actions resulting from such visits.

● Manage marketing intelligence, competitor analysis, competitor activity.

● Reporting on – Sales by customer/country/product, Competitor activities, Product signifi cance, Customer signifi cance, Promotional activities, Training, any relevant information required or is entered into the CRM system on a regular basis.

● Manage strategic accounts including large contractors, developers, and national distributors.

● Lead commercial negotiations, pricing strategies, and long-term contract discussions.

● Drive regional business development and identify high-growth opportunities.

● Coordinate closely with the warehouse team on product availability, forecasts, and marketing needs.

● Lead and mentor junior and mid-level sales teams across multiple markets.

● Represent the company at regional trade shows, exhibitions, and client summits.

● Travel to other countries in the Indian Ocean Islands from time to time visiting and developing business in markets such as Seychelles, Reunion, Madagascar and potentially Maldives.

Requirements

● Matric or Equivalent.

● Diploma, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Sales, or International Trade preferred.

● 10+ years of senior-level sales experience in the market, preferably with retail, key accounts and projects related.

● In-depth knowledge of import/export operations, customs clearance, and regulatory frameworks in Africa.

● Technical plumbing or service knowledge of taps, sanware and piping systems would be an advantage.

● Experience in direct calling on prospective clients.

● Demonstrated success in growing market share and leading regional teams.

● Profi cient in CRM systems, reporting tools, and market analysis. (SAP Essential)

● Computer system knowledge: full MS Suite and Google Sheets, Docs and Slides.

● Must have sales forecasting and planning experience.

● Fluency in English and French Creole.

● 7+ years of experience sourcing new business opportunities.

● 7+ years knowledge of dealing with retailers/merchants and wholesalers

● 7+ years in the sales and marketing environment.

● Valid driver’s license- unendorsed code 8 or equivalent in Mauritius.

● Own Vehicle.

● Customer support and service experience is essential.

● Willingness to travel to other countries in the Indian Ocean Islands from time to time.

● Must be willing to relocate to Mauritius.

● Demonstrated ability to push ideas forward and present concepts well.
