POSITION INFO:
Building Systems / Fire Systems Technician – POS26231
Location: Kempton Park
Salary: R30,000 – R40,000 basic per month
Role Purpose
Carry out services, repairs, and installations on all fire detection, BMS (Building Management Systems), and metering systems installed on the complex, in compliance with the relevant code of practice.
Requirements
- Matric / NTC III in a Technical field
- SAQCC Level 3 minimum — Level 4 preferred
- Experience in the field of fire detection systems
- Experience on Ziton panels and equipment advantageous
- Experience on programming of Maestro systems advantageous
- Able to work flexible hours
Key Responsibilities
- Safe and effective servicing and repairs of fire detection systems on the complex
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance of all fire detection systems, including flow and tamper switches at valve chambers
- Responsible for weekly service reports and printouts of detectors tested
- Assist the air-conditioning department with management of the BMS system when necessary
- Assist with fault finding of the BMS network
- Carry out minor installations as required in compliance with local codes and accepted practices
- Attend to any breakdowns occurring after normal working hours safely and efficiently
- Control loss, abuse, and breakage of operating equipment; ensure all equipment and tools are handled and stored correctly
- Develop a thorough knowledge of all fire safety systems on the complex
