SUMMARY:
Position available for a Bricklayer
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: Proven experience in the construction industry (typically 1–5+ years, depending on seniority).
- Certifications: High school diploma / Grade 12 / Matric GED, trade school training, or recognized apprenticeship certifications (e.g., Red Seal in some regions).
- Skills: Ability to work with hand and power tools, strong mathematical skills, and attention to detail.
Key Job Specifications & Responsibilities:
- Constructing Structures: Laying bricks, concrete blocks, and stone for residential or commercial projects.
- Reading Plans: Interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and structural specifications to set out work areas.
- Mortar Application: Mixing and applying mortar with a trowel, spreading it to create a base.
- Alignment & Quality: Using plumb lines, spirit levels, and laser levels to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment.
- Finishing & Repair: Pointing (finishing) joints, cutting bricks, and repairing existing brickwork.
- Setting Foundations: Laying the initial "first row" and installing damp-resistant materials.
