In this role you will be responsible for:
- Inspections on the raw materials batching system, pre-heater feeding and furnace floors.
- Ensuring that the furnace is properly loaded
- Conducting inspections on all floors of the furnace building
- Assist with electrode paste loading, monitoring paste temperatures and replacing thermos-couples when necessary.
- Assist to Operate the furnace in accordance with established procedures and works instructions
- Ensuring good housekeeping in the area of responsibility
- Operating the computerized loading system for feeding raw material into the furnace.
- Adhering to all HSECQ requirements to ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures
About you:
- Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification
- Basic metallurgy and smelting knowledge
- Basic Furnace and electrode operation understanding
- SCADA and MES knowledge will be an advantage
- Good administration, communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer literate for the role
- At least 2 Years’ general furnace experience in a Smelter environment
