The role:
As an Assistant Manager, you will lead a team of consultants, overseeing daily operations and ensuring high-quality delivery. This is a leadership role suited to a seasoned immigration professional who can drive delivery, energise a team, and operate confidently in a fast-paced environment. Alongside managing performance and developing team members, you will drive continuous improvement and ensure work is delivered efficiently. You will also coordinate workflows, provide oversight on complex cases, and act as a trusted point of contact for clients, using your technical expertise to guide the team and ensure compliance.
Working closely with a diverse portfolio of corporate clients, including multinational organisations, you will build strong relationships and support new client onboarding. There will also be opportunities to contribute to business development and the growth of the wider practice, with support from senior managers and a strong administrative team.
What your day will look like:
- Overseeing daily team operations, ensuring consistent service delivery and compliance
- Acting as the key point of contact on client accounts, providing legal and strategic guidance
- Effectively managing relationships with client contacts and maintaining a high standard of professionalism, legal expertise and efficiency in all communications
- Serving as technical expert and escalation point for day-to-day queries from team members
- Conducting legal research on complex technical issues and formulate tailored solutions
- Identifying strategic opportunities for clients and collaborating with managers on execution
- Creating and refining client protocols and implementing service improvements
- Collaborating with clients while understanding their business, objectives and needs
- Serving as a mentor and leader, providing training and support to junior colleagues
- Contributing to business development and participating in wider firm initiatives

Essential criteria:
- Knowledge and experience of sub-Saharan African jurisdictions
- More than 7 years’ experience in immigration is required; a Bachelor’s degree in a related field is advantageous
- Positive leader who fosters trust, accountability, and a high-performance culture
- Proven ability to coach, develop, and manage team performance and competing priorities
- Confident managing senior stakeholders and building trusted, long-term client relationships
- Commercially aware, able to identify growth opportunities and contribute to client strategy
- Comfortable using systems and data to drive efficiency, accuracy, and process improvements
- Sound judgment with ability to make decisions and escalate appropriately in complex situations
- Thrives in fast-paced environments, managing ambiguity and shifting priorities effectively
- Highly organised, able to prioritise, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and communicate progress clearly
