Job Purpose

The Department of the Premier, Western Cape Government, has an opportunity for a competent individual to provide a professional risk management service across multiple departments in the Western Cape Government by facilitating the identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring and reporting of risks. In so doing, ensuring the maintenance of the risk register. This position is stationed in Cape Town.


Minimum Requirements

An appropriate 3-year B-degree (equivalent or higher qualification); a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience; a valid Code B (or higher) driving licence.

Key Performance Areas

To supervise and implement the risk management framework in the organisation; Implement and maintain the enterprise risk management policies, strategies and operational plans; Ensure risk mitigation and control support; prepare and submit professional, high-quality and accurate reports; facilitate the identification, analysis and assessment of risks.


Competencies


Knowledge of the following:
Extensive knowledge of enterprise risk management frameworks and working principles; familiarity with public sector legislative and regulatory knowledge such as PFMA and national treasury risk management regulations. Applicable legislation and regulatory frameworks.

Skills in the following: Computer literacy in MS Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Excellent Communication skills (written and verbal); Ability to deal with various levels of management and excercize utmost descretion in respect to sensitive and confidential information. Negotiation skills; Analytical and problem-solving skills; Advisory and personal judgement skills; facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills; planning, organising and time-management skills; relationship and interpersonal skills.


Remuneration

R 487 197- R 573 897 per annum (Salary level 9)

Note on remuneration in addition service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.

Notes

Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting. All shortlisted candidates shall undertake two pre-entry assessments. One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
