As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Area Sales Manager to join our Baking Division. The purpose of this role is to manage sales of the company’s products and services in within a defined geographic area, province or country.

The role will be based in Pietermaritzburg and reports to the General Manager.

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric
  • Minimum Master’s Degree (preferably in Business administration, sales, marketing or arts).
  • 2-4 years’ experience in sales. 2 of which must be as a Sales manager.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence

Duties & Responsibilities

Turnover

  • Draw up action plans for customer visits in conjunction with GM.
  • Monitor sales per route.
  • Reach budget set for Bakery.

Information Basis

  • Determine customer needs.
  • Check bread quality in shops.
  • Keep customer profiles.
  • Keep opposition profile and discuss with GM.
  • Check route times.

Customer Relations

  • Maintain good company image.
  • Handle complaints effectively.
  • Build up relationships with relevant community organisations.
  • Check sales team appearances, daily on route visits.

Reporting

  • Report to operations manager on general progress made
  • Responsible to operations manager for overall performance.

Training

  • Re-enforce “Working for customers” with sales team i.e. Core Service Values and Sunbake Primary Service Package as well as modules covered in “Route Management “course.
  • Monitor sales team conduct.
  • Give on-the-job training if required.
